UK tobacco prices are 94% above the EU average – only Norway (170% above) and Ireland (99% above) are more expensive for smokers. Table above from Eurostat [pdf] (h/t ONS), also shows that alcohol prices in the UK were 43% higher than the EU average. Again, Norway is the most expensive (188% above average). Macedonia is the cheapest (35% below the average).

Food, meat and bread prices in Britain are generally far closer to the average.
